The Rossmoor Photography Club Film Series returns this year with an exciting lineup of compelling documentaries and feature films celebrating eminent photographers and their work.
Each year, the Rossmoor Photography Club’s Movie Night series is organized around a central theme that explores an important dimension of photography and artistic expression. While each documentary features a different master photographer with a distinctive style, background, and creative philosophy, every film contributes a unique perspective on the year’s theme. Together, they reveal not only how great photographs are made, but also why they matter.
2026 Theme: The Courage to See Differently—exploring photographers who challenged convention and redefined visual storytelling: Robert Frank, Gary Winogrand, Jay Maizel.
More than biographies, these films are visual master classes that examine the decisions, techniques, and ways of seeing that shape memorable images. Viewers gain a deeper appreciation for composition, light, storytelling, timing, and personal vision while discovering how each photographer transformed ideas into enduring works of art. Whether you are an experienced photographer, a beginning enthusiast, or simply enjoy compelling visual storytelling, the annual Movie Night series offers inspiration, practical insights, and a richer understanding of photography as both an art and a way of seeing the world.
This year, four Movie Nights are scheduled to take place in the coming months. Each event will be announced in advance on this page, in the Upcoming Movies Sponsored by Rossmoor Clubs section of Rossmoor News, and Rossmoor’s Channel 28.
Movie Night is free to all Rossmoor residents.
Unless otherwise noted, screenings take place at Peacock Hall, with showtime at 7 p.m.
